'Utter joke' - Everton fans make Jordan Pickford point after England performance

Everton fans believe goalkeeper Jordan Pickford doesn't get the credit he deserves and that he should be recognised more widely as the undisputed No.1 for England.

The Blues' shot-stopper produced a crucial save at 1-0 in England's 5-0 thumping of Albania at Wembley on Friday night.

A back pass from Kyle Walker put Myrto Uzuni one on one with Pickford, but a smart stop maintained England's lead.

Report have suggested the 27-year-old could come under pressure given the form of Aaron Ramsdale since he moved to Arsenal.

But Everton supporters believe there should be no doubt who is first choice for Gareth Southgate.

One fan tweeted: "The agenda against Pickford is ridiculous by the media, Pickford has been outstanding for England.

"It's beyond the joke now. He is rightly England's No.1 and nobody is close."

Another shared: "Pundits and the media have a serious agenda against Pickford. The lad rightly so has earned his England spot and was a hero for England in the summer.

"Pope, Heaton, Henderson, Ramsdale, Butland, Hart, Johnstone. How many other keepers does he have to bench?"

Pickford has kept his place in the England starting line-up over the likes of Nick Pope, Dean Henderson and Tom Heaton.

There have been recent claims, though, that Ramsdale should be handed an opportunity by manager Southgate.

In an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live, Pickford responded to the competition for places, saying: "He's a great lad, Rammers [Ramsdale], and I'm delighted that he's flying.

"I see the games and he's making worldies against Leicester! But that's what you want. He's your team-mate, he's your friend."
