Uttarakhand Board of School Educationclasses X, XII results out: Asha worker’s daughter is state topper

DEHRADUN/HARIDWAR: Uttarakhand Board of School Education (UBSE) on Monday declared the results of its class 10 and 12 board examinations. Out of the total, 77.47% of the students passed class 10 board exams while 82.63% of students cleared class 12. According to the UBSE officials, a total of 1,29,777 class 10 students and 1,13,164 class 12 students had appeared for the exams.

For class 12, the pass percentage for boys was 79.74 and that for girls was 85.38. In class 10, 71.12% of male students and 84.06% of female students cleared the exam.

Meanwhile, Haridwar-resident Diya Rajput emerged as class 12th state topper with 97% marks. She was closely followed by Anshul Bahuguna of Chamoli district at second spot with 96.80% marks and Sumit Singh of Bageshwar district and Darshit Chauhan of US Nagar district at third position with 96.60% marks each. Diya, a daughter of a local ASHA health worker lives in the slum area of Haridwar. A science student at RSS-run Saraswati Vidya Mandir Inter College in Mayapur, Diya had secured 16th position in the state her class 10 examinations. Speaking on her feat, Diya told TOI, “My father works as a machine operator in a private company and my mother is an Asha worker. We are three sisters. While life hasn't been easy for us, we learnt to take responsibilities at an early age. My parents and teachers have always encouraged me. I want to become an IAS officer to serve my country.”

Notably, Rudraprayag recorded the highest passing percentage of 91.90% in class 12. In class 10, Bageshwar recorded the highest passing percentage of 87.05%.
