PRAYAGRAJ: A couple and their three minor children were found dead in mysterious circumstances at their rented accommodation at Khagalpur village under the limits of Nawabganj police station in trans-Ganga pocket of Prayagraj district on Saturday morning.
Police said the body of the man, identified as Rahul Tiwari (42), was found hanging with a saree near the verandah of the house while those of his wife Preeti (38) and their three minor daughters with their throats slit were lying on beds. The body of the man bore no injury mark. All the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
Upon being alerted, senior police officers including SSP (Prayagraj) Ajay Kumar along with forensic experts rushed to the spot and carried out investigations.
SSP (Prayagraj) said , "Seven police teams have been roped in to crack the incident. Suicide by the man has not been ruled out yet. Prima facie, it is clear that the throats of the woman and the three girls were slit by a sharp-edged weapon, the post-mortem report would make it clear how the man, Rahul Tiwari, died."
"A two-page hand-written note has also been found near the body of Rahul wherein he has accused members of his in-laws’ family of harassment, dispute over farmland and house and blamed for the behind the incident," the SSP added.
The SSP claimed that names of some members of his in-law’s side were also written in the note. Moreover, the elder brother of the deceased has also named four members of Rahul’s in-laws' side in the FIR lodged with the police.
"As per preliminary investigations, the two-page note has been written by Rahul Tiwari, but we are consulting forensic experts to match his hand-writing before reaching at any conclusion," the SSP said.
Family members of Rahul Tiwari in their FIR lodged with Nawabganj police alleged that members from Rahul’s in-laws’ family, including two brother-in-laws — Pintoo and Chandrashekhar — were constantly harassing him (Rahul) mentally.
Police said Rahul was a native of Kaushambi district and he along with his family members had arrived in Nawabganj village of Prayagraj about six months back after having a tiff with his in-laws over a field and house. Rahul was involved in sale and purchase of milch cattle.
