LUCKNOW: A 21-year-old youth was murdered by his friend and his associates in Ambedkarnagar over repayment of Rs 5 lakh loan, police claimed.
The body of Shiva Kasaudhan, who had gone missing on November 12, was recovered stuffed in a gunny bag on Sunday evening.
The body was found in Tamsa river in Ambedkarnagar. Police have detained Neelesh, Yash and Amir and Amir Qureshi on charges of kidnapping and murder of Shiva.
Accused took Shiva to hotel, killed him using bricks
The four were sent to jail on Monday. Ambedkarnagar SP Alok Priyadarshi told TOI that Shiva was the son of a trader in the town.
“One of the accused, Yash, had taken a loan of Rs 5 lakh from Shiva and was unable to repay him. As a result, Yash and his two associates kidnapped and murdered him,” said the SP. Yash had lost the amount to gambling.
The accused were arrested on the basis of electronic surveillance as their location had matched with the victim’s on November 11 night.
“When Shiva started pressing for his money back, his friends turned into his foes and plotted to eliminate him,” said a senior police official privy to probe.
“On November 11,Shiva had got enraged and warned his friends that he would inform police and get an FIR lodged against them,” said the cop.
They invited Shiva for a settlement and first offered him drinks and then took him to a hotel and hacked him to death using bricks.
“After the assault, they tied his body in a gunny bag and dumped it in the river,” said SHO, Akbarpur, Amit Pratap Singh.
