LUCKNOW: A day after Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav justified his foreign visits claiming that it was during these trips that he got the inspiration for development projects like Agra Expressway and Metro rail project in UP, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati said a strong political will, and not foreign tours, is required for development.
On Tuesday, while congratulating Satish Mahana on being unanimously elected as the UP Assembly Speaker, Leader of the Opposition Akhilesh Yadav had cited Mahana’s bio-data, which mentions that the Speaker had made 35 foreign visits till now.
Having been on the receiving end of chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s attack during election speeches over his foreign visits, Akhilesh took the opportunity to explain that it was because of his foreign visits that he could implement world class Agra expressway project and launch Metro trains during his tenure as Chief Minister.
On Wednesday, BSP supremo took to twitter to rubbish Akhikesh’s claims that foreign visits offer ideas which help in development.
“Leader of the Opposition Akhilesh Yadav has tried to justify his foreign visits using newly appointed speaker Satish Mahana’s international tours as a shield. He has been targeted by the BJP for his foreign visits.”
“For development, right approach and vision are essential. Development is possible without foreign tours and Taj and Ganga expressways are examples of such a vision. Like grit of steel is needed to ensure a control and riot free society, a broad mentality and right vision is needed for development,” Mayawati tweeted.
