Uttar Pradesh: Rs 5.10 crore land of Mukhtar Ansari's brothers-in-law attached in Ghazipur

VARANASI: Continuing action to hit the economic empire of jailed mafia don Mukhtar Ansari, his family and gang members Ghazipur administration and police on Wednesday attached a land registered in the name of his brothers-in-law in Babedi area.

ADG Varanasi zone Ram Kumar said that as per the estimate of Ghazipur police the cost of attached land as Rs 5.10 crores. “With it the total financial losses caused to economic empire of Mukhtar gang under the on-going action of police has gone around Rs 500 crores in the zone”, he added.

According to police, under the drive of detection of properties created with illegal earning by Mukhtar’s relatives and gang members one more property was detected Babedi area. When the revenue records were checked the officials found that 0.3134 hectare commercial land in Babedi area was registered in the name of Mukhtar’s brothers-in-law including Anwar Shehjad and Sharjil Raja.

After completion of legal formalities under Gangster Act the district magistrate Ghazipur MP Singh issued order for its attachment. To execute the same order a joint team of district administration and police reached Babedi area and attached the property. With it the financial losses in the action of attachment of movable and immovable properties and demolition of buildings has reached up to Rs 109 crores only in Ghazipur district, which houses the parental home of Mukhtar lodged in Banda jail.

Before it a land in the name of Mukhtar’s mother had also been attached by the officials in Ghazipur on April 10. Two major actions followed against Mukhtar’s close aide Ganesh Dutt Mishra and his sharpshooter Anuj Kanojia in Mau district on April 11 when the boundary walls created after plotting on five acre land worth Rs 60 crores by Mishra in Bhujauti area were removed while a house constructed by Kanojia with illegally earned money on the land of government pond was also demolished on the report of Azamgarh police.

Apart from bulldozing buildings, seizure of movable and immovable properties, the police also targeted the illegal earnings of this gang earned through extortion and fish trades, grabbing contracts in PWD and other government departments in past two years.
