LUCKNOW: During a special enforcement drive, the excise and police departments have been carrying out joint raids since January 5 during which 19,583 cases were registered.
Through 1,33,652 raids, the teams recovered 11,08,489 litres of illicit liquor, while 16,77,112 kg of lahan, used in the manufacturing of illicit liquor, was destroyed.
Additional chief secretary (excise) Sanjay Bhoosreddy said 4,669 people were arrested and 122 vehicles were confiscated during the drive. The enforcement drive will go on till March 31 in view of Holi. Excise commissioner Senthil Pandian said DMs have been asked to hold meetings with tax, excise, and transport departments and local bodies.
