Uttar Pradesh: Rivers swell, several districts face flood threat

LUCKNOW: The river Rapti continued to rise in the eastern districts of UP on Saturday. The river was flowing above the danger mark in Gorakhpur and Siddharthnagar while continuing to rise.

The flood situation remains unchanged over the past 24 hours as eight rivers are still flowing above the danger mark.

The Kwano, which has been flowing above the danger mark in Gonda since August, remained at the same level. However, it did not show a rising trend on Saturday.

The Sharda in Paliakalan (Lakhimpur Kheri), Rohin in Maharajganj, Boodhi Rapti and Kunhara in Siddharthnagar, Ghaghra in Ayodhya, Barabanki and Ballia and Ganga in Badaun were flowing above the danger mark but were either falling or remained stationary. Kwano in Basti, Ganga in Farrukhabad, Gandak in Kushinagar, Rapti in Balrampur and Sharda in Lakhimpur Kheri’s Shardanagar though were recorded flowing very close to the danger mark.
