LUCKNOW: Abdullah Azam, son of Rampur MP Azam Khan, was released from Sitapur jail on Saturday night.
His release was however delayed due to a discrepancy in the release order which was amended and sent to the jail authorities.
Abdullah Azam along with his father Azam Khan was lodged in Sitapur jail from February 27, 2020.
As per the jail superintendent, Abdullah had as many as 43 cases in his name from Rampur district and the jail authorities got release order in all the cases.
Jail Superintendent of Sitapur, Suresh Singh, told TOI that in one release order, discrepancy was found following which a fresh order was sent from Rampur court, following which the delay took place.
Supporters of Abdullah Azam had also gathered outside the Sitapur jail to greet him.
Samajwadi Party MP from Rampur Azam Khan, had surrendered in Rampur court on Feb 26, 2020 and was sent to jail in a case of forgery. Later, he was shifted to Sitapur jail along with his wife Tanzeen Fatima and son Abdullah Azam.
