Uttar Pradesh: PTI photographer 'attacked, beaten' by unidentified men in Muradnagar

A PTI photographer has said that he and his fiancée were assaulted last evening and that the police refused to lodge an FIR. The photographer, Ravi Choudhary, posted on Twitter that he had been "attacked by 5-6 men".

The incident took place in Uttar Pradesh's Muradnagar.

The incident occurred while Choudhary was traveling by motorcycle from Delhi, reported Janta ka Reporter. “The driver of the Bolero stopped Choudhary's vehicle while overtaking and allegedly abused Ravi and his fiancée," the report said. "When Chaudhary opposed this, the driver opened his car and blocked his way."

Three or four people then got out of the Bolero and "started beating them", according to the report. "Ravi said that when he escaped from the scene, the people in the car chased him for some distance.”

The report said that authorities assured Choudhary that action would be taken in the case. The photographer recently rose to prominence after his photograph of a farmer being beaten by a police officer.
