VARANASI: Initiating action under the Gangster Act against jailed mafia don Mukhtar Ansari’s wife Afsha Ansari and her two brothers, Mau police on Tuesday delivered notices of property attachment to the parental houses of the don and also his brothers-in-law in Ghazipur.
Mau SP Avinash Pandey said that if Afsha Ansari and her brothers Aatif alias Sharjil Raja and Anwar Shehzad, who are absconding since 2020, don't follow court directives then their properties would be attached.
According to Pandey, Dakshintola police had booked Afsha and her brothers under Gangster Act following an FIR against Afsham Aatif, Anwar, Ravindra Narain Singh and Jakir Husssain alias Vicky on the complaint of tehsildar Sadar in 2020. They were booked for committing fraud, criminal trespass and under sections of the public property Act for grabbing gram sabha land in Raini and a FCI warehouse.
The Mau SP said that Singh and Vicky were arrested while Afsha had approached high court with a plea to quash the case. “However, the HC rejected her plea after which the local court issued a warrant for the arrest of Afsha and her brothers,” he said, adding, “As the absconders could not be found, the cops reached their places in Ghazipur and completed the formality of serving notices of property attachment.”
