Uttar Pradesh: Post offices in Shamli to stock Gangajal for kanwarias

SHAMLI: In a week's time, the postal department in Shamli will begin selling bottled Ganga water fetched from Gangotri Dham for Rs 30.

Officials said that owing to incessant showers in the hills, the facility will be initiated particularly for the elderly, for whom participating in the ongoing kanwar yatra is difficult.

A postmaster of Shamli head post office, Pradeep Malik, told TOI on Friday, " Arrangements have been made by the department and the holy water will be distributed to its branches as per the demand." Malik added: "Devotees can perform 'Jalabhishek' of Lord Bholenath with the holy water. To get a 50 ml bottle of holy water, they will have to pay only Rs 30.”
