Uttar Pradesh: Over 56% active Covid cases concentrated in six districts

LUCKNOW: More than 56% of the active cases in Uttar Pradesh are concentrated in just six districts, as per the data shared by the state government on Wednesday.

The Covid-19 bulletin showed that UP is left with 159 active cases in 45 districts.

Of the total, 56.2 % of the cases are concentrated in six districts, including Lucknow (25), Gorakhpur (20), Prayagraj (17), Bareilly (13) and Gautam Budh Nagar

(13). Also, as many as 33 districts have become free from the pandemic infection with active cases touching a zero, while 20 districts of the state are just left with a single active case each.

Meanwhile, just eight new cases were reported across the state in the past 24 hours. Health officials said that new cases surfaced in just seven districts. The number of recoveries reported in the same duration was 23. With this, the total number of cases reported in the state reached 17,09,800 of which 16,86,749 have recovered while 22,892 have died.

Talking about the progress on the vaccination front, health officials said that the total number of doses administered in the state reached 10.6 crore. In terms of people, 8.55 crore persons have taken at least one dose while 2.03 crore are fully vaccinated.
