KANPUR: District officials on Saturday conducted a random inspection of the Kanpur district jail to cross-check a news published in a newspaper that the accused of Nai Sadak violence were misbehaving with other jail inmates. To ascertain the veracity of the news item, district magistrate Vishak G Iyer, additional district magistrate (Land acquisition), joint magistrate Anurag Jain and additional police commissioner Ashok Kumar made a random visit to the jail. They discussed the issue with the jail inmates and the jail administration officials and learnt that the news published was baseless and that no such incident had taken place inside the jail.
