LUCKNOW: No Covid-19 cases were reported from across 59 districts in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, according to data from the state health department.
Officials said that 22 new cases and 28 recoveries were reported in the state in the past 24 hours.
The new cases were reported from 16 districts.
The state is left with 354 active cases which has brought UP to the pre-first wave levels, said officials while insisting that despite fall in cases the state will continue to aggressively test and trace Covid-19 suspects.
“Early detection and isolation of potentially infectious individuals is the key to successfully fighting a viral pandemic. Despite registering a steady decline in the number of fresh infections, Uttar Pradesh has been testing more than 2 lakh samples,” an official statement said.
Experts are of the view that testing was the most important tool to curb the transmission of SARSCoV-2 as it helps timely detection of cases and their isolation and contact tracing.
A widely deployed and efficient testing strategy in Uttar Pradesh has helped in limiting the spread of new cases of coronavirus as it significantly reduced the chance of individuals with undetected virus exposure from roaming freely among the unexposed individuals in the state.
