VARANASI: One Rambabu Musahar who attempted to kill a 10-year-old girl of his slum after allegedly raping her on Saturday, was arrested on Sunday.
Musahar is a native of a village under Vindhyachal police station in Mirzapur district. The girl was reportedly found with serious injuries and was rushed to district hospital from where she was referred to Varanasi. After filing a case, CO City Prabhat Rai and team arrested Rambabu, who confessed his crime.
Andhra pilgrim drowns in Ganga: One Pashupulethu Venkat Vinayak Krishna (45) of Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh, drowned in the Ganga near Raja Ghat under Dashaswamedh police station on Sunday. NDRF inspector Vineet Kumar said that rescue team reached Raja Ghat and fished out Krishna’s body. Krishna had reportedly arrived Varanasi with family and all went to Raja Ghat for bathing in the Ganga.
