MEERUT: A 30-year-old history-sheeter was allegedly killed by his brother following a verbal spat over a monetary dispute between them on Thursday.
The victim, identified as Rahul Kumar, was found dead with head injuries around 50 metres away from his house in Om Nagar locality under Meerut’s Kankar Khera police station, said police.
SSP Meerut Rohit Singh Sajwan said, "Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused, Raju Kumar, indulged in a verbal spat with Rahul when the latter was in an inebriated condition and hit him with a brick. Raju fled from the spot after committing the crime. It has come to the fore that the victim often used to fight with his family members under the influence of alcohol. Also, he was booked for theft and robbery over seven times and was sent to jail in the past. Many cases against him are still under trial.”
“Initially, the family didn’t file any complaint as they didn't want any police action in the matter but eventually, the deceased's mother, Sudesh, gave a complaint on which an FIR under section 302 (murder) against the accused has been lodged. The body has been taken into custody and was sent for autopsy. The actual cause of death can be ascertained after getting the autopsy reports, following which necessary steps will be taken. Four teams have been formed to nab the accused,” SSP added.
