LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government late on Friday evening formally sent its recommendation for a CBI probe into the death of Kanpur businessman Manish Gupta during a police verification at a Gorakhpur hotel three days ago.
Manish Gupta's widow had requested chief minister Yogi Adityanath for the CBI probe when he met the family in Kanpur on Thursday.
A government spokesperson said on Friday that till the time the CBI takes over, a special team of Kanpur police would probe the case.
The government also raised the ex gratia amount to be given to the family to Rs 40 lakh.
