AGRA: AMU Coordination committee of UP state executive body on Sunday passed a 15-point resolution as a charter of Muslim issues and sought its inclusion in the election manifesto of political parties seeking their vote. They also demanded an assurance that their request would be implemented after the formation of the new government.
They stated that this election is crucial for the community, having been subjected to systematic harassment by the communally biased ruling dispensation on one hand and disappointed in the silence of all secular parties who had enjoyed power due to their en-mass electoral support.
In a resolution passed by the committee, comprising over 100 members including teaching, non-teaching staff of the varsity along with students and alumni, demanded — speedy and time bound investigation and release of innocent persons framed under UAPA and NSA, compensation and rehabilitation of victims who were falsely implicated by security agencies and subjected to prolonged incarceration and severe torture but found innocent and acquitted by courts of Law.
Other points included in the resolution are— enactment of comprehensive anti-Communal and anti-hate crime law with the provision of stringent punishment and speedy trial and formation of a task force having adequate representation of stakeholders for vigilance of harassment and atrocities of minorities and withdrawal of cases filed against activists who carried out anti-CAA/anti-NRC agitation and compensation for victims of police atrocities during protest. Also, Urdu should be considered the second official language in Uttar Pradesh.
The varsity’s alumni and coordinator of AMU Coordination committee, Amir Mintoee, said that "social security" of minority community is very important as mob lynching cases are being reported across the state, so, the demand of anti-communal violence bill has been raised. "We will vote for the party who will discuss our issues and assure to implement it, if they form the government," he said, adding that this resolution will be sent to national presidents of all political parties and their action will decide their further course of action.
Speaking on the occasion, AMU alumni and former joint director in Agriculture department of UP government, Dr Sultan-Ul-Haq said, "No political party is talking about issues related to our community, which comprises about 20 percent of the electorate in the state. Some of the parties did not even field a single Muslim candidate and in such a situation we are trying to approach political parties with our issues."
