Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, Governor Anandiben Patel, leader of the opposition Akhilesh Yadav mourn TOI ex-staffer’s demise

LUCKNOW: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Governor Anandiben Patel, leader of the opposition (LoP) Akhilesh Yadav and a host of ministers, senior politicians and bureaucrats condoled the death of senior journalist Bishwadeep Ghosh who died of a cardiac arrest in Lucknow on Friday.

“Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has mourned the demise of senior journalist Bishwadeep Ghosh and prays that his soul rests in peace. The CM has expressed condolences to the bereaved family,” said a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s office. Former CM and LoP Akhilesh Yadav expressed his heartfelt condolences on the untimely demise of Ghosh.

Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana also condoled the death of the senior journalist.

Having served the TOI in the ’90s, Ghosh (57) worked with all leading English dailies published from Lucknow. He was known for in-depth crime stories. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter. “He was in office on Thursday evening but left a bit early. Around 10pm he complained of breathlessness and was rushed to Syama Prasad Mukherjee Civil Hospital from where he was referred to Medanta. He suffered another heart attack at Medanta and was declared dead around 11.30am on Friday,” a colleague of Ghosh said. The last rites were performed in Lucknow on Friday evening.
