Uttar Pradesh ATS busts gang selling illegal arms

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) busted a gang selling illegal arms from Varanasi on Wednesday. Those arrested were identified as Dinesh Kumar, Ritesh Pandey, Satyam Kumar all three of Bihar and Amit Kumar of New Delhi.

ATS also recovered sophisticated arms from their possession which included a submachine gun, illegal pistols .32 and two magazines .32 .

Additional Director General of police, law and order, Prashant Kumar, said that the gang was under ATS scanner for a long time.

"On the information of the gang coming to Varanasi two of the members Ritesh and Dinesh were arrested with Rs 13,500, while based on their interrogation the other two members Satyam and Amit were arrested from Hapur district," said Kumar.

Kumar said that the gang buys illegal weapons manufactured in the state of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh at cheap prices and then sells them at expensive prices in the districts of Bihar, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

In the past also five members of the gang were arrested from Ballia by UPATS.
