Uttar Pradesh: 8 criminals held in two separate police encounters

VARANASI: In two separate operations of the Jaunpur police, three notorious criminals were injured and arrested along with five others at two different places in Jaunpur district on Sunday night.

In a joint action of Badlapur and Singramau police, four dreaded criminals were arrested after two of them sustained bullet injuries on their legs following an exchange of fire with police. A police constable was also injured in the encounter. The police have recovered four pistols and six live cartridges from their possession.

According to ASP (rural) Shailendra Singh, acting on a tip-off, the police team intercepted the criminals near Fattupur crossing. Seeing the police team, the criminals opened fire in which a constable Vishwesh Dwivedi sustained a gunshot. The police also opened fire in self defence, in which two criminals were injured. The injured criminals and constable were taken to the Badlapur community health centre from where they were referred to the district hospital after the first aid.

The arrested criminals were identified as Raj Kumar Yadav alias Govind, Monu Yada, both injured, Satish Yadav alias Kallu and Saurabh Yadav alia Vakil. The police have also launched a manhunt to nab their two aides Yogesh Yadav and Shailendra Yadav. These criminals were wanted in several crime cases.

In another encounter with the Chandavak and Kerakat police, one miscreant suffered bullet injuries in leg and was arrested along with his two accomplices. The police recovered two pistols, two live cartridges and a knife from them.

According to reports, the police team intercepted the criminals on Devlashpur-Musahariya-Hariharpur Road. In a bid to flee from the scene, the criminals opened fire on the police. In police firing, a criminal Suraj Kumar Gautal was injured. The other two criminals were identified as Aslam Ali and Raj Kumar Singh alias Bablu. The arrested criminals were history sheeters and wanted in many cases.
