A youth futsal coach has explained how the game helps children also play football.
Sian Breen is involved with Reddish North End under-15s’ futsal team, who are competing in the MEN’s Kits for Kids campaign to win a new kit.
She says the campaign will be massively helpful, due to the team outgrowing their current kit and the nicheness of the sport. Yet Breen says the sport is wellloved by the team due to the pace of the game and how it helps them when it comes to playing football.
She said: “My team and I love futsal. The game is fast, a lot more touches per game, better control, quicker decision-making and it hugely improves the way they play football on matchday, not forgetting the fitness required.
“The team work hard and lasting friendships are made. They’re a hard-working, fearless and dedicated team. “They are a great group of kids and great parents, which you need. They are a pleasure to manage.”
She added: “My daughter has played for a boys’ team since under-9s and I got involved, helping manage her team.
“Then we also started futsal and, after completing my level one, we continued to develop the team and added a younger age group. “I just like to see the kids enjoying themselves, keeping the kids healthy, happy and active, whether it’s at futsal or on the weekend football games.”
