We have heard concerns from several players about the safety of a return to play, with Cleveland Cavaliers forward Larry Nance Jr. raising questions for players with pre-existing conditions like himself who deals with Chron’s disease, as well as Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum’s questions about the safety of such a return and going back to resume training. But none of them were as explicit about the reality that they never may play in the NBA again due to concerns about the coronavirus and how it might affect their family.
Utah Jazz forward Joe Ingles told Australia’s Daily Telegraph that he’s prepared to leave the NBA, return to Australia and never return if the NBA insists on coming back as reported, with a mid-June training date and a mid-July return to play. Ingles has a wife and a four-year-old son who was diagnosed with autism and has a weakened immune system.
Ingles’ teammate Bogdan Bogdanovic, Utah’s second-leading scorer, elected to have surgery on his wrist earlier this week. The Jazz are currently in 4th place in the Western Conference standings with a record of 41-23.
