Usyk vs Dubois 2 weigh-in live: Heavyweight rivals tip scales ahead of Wembley rematch

Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois tipped the scales at their weigh-in on Friday, ahead of their undisputed title clash on Saturday.

Two years after Usyk beat Dubois in Poland, the heavyweights will square off again – this time at Wembley Stadium, with the Ukrainian’s unified belts on the line, while the Briton defends his IBF title.

In their first bout, Usyk climbed off the canvas to stop Dubois after suffering a controversial low blow, which the latter’s team still insists was a legal body shot. Since then, Dubois has been in the form of his life, stopping Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and most recently Anthony Joshua, whom the 27-year-old knocked out at Wembley in September.

Usyk, meanwhile, is still unbeaten, having recorded back-to-back decision wins over Tyson Fury in 2024. The first win made Usyk, 38, the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 24 years, before he retained the unified belts in their rematch after giving up the IBF strap. In the meantime, Dubois was elevated from interim IBF champion to regular champion,

And all the gold will be up for grabs on Saturday, but first, the heavyweights tipped the scales at a Wembley weigh-in, with Dubois coming in at 243lb and 8oz, while Usyk was 227lb and 3oz. Re-live updates from Friday’s weigh-in below. Purchase the fight on DAZN pay-per-view here.

“If i hurt him and I get the opportunity, it’s my duty to finish him.

“Like I said, a mammoth task ahead of me. I’m no fool, [he’s the bigger guy].”

More from Lennox Lewis on Usyk vs Dubois 2

15:10 , Alex Pattle

Would a win over Usyk put Dubois above Fury and Joshua in the British heavyweight scene?

“Yes, of course, yeah,” says Lewis, who held the undisputed heavyweight belts a quarter of a century ago.

“This is a big fight, especially for British boxing, and for Daniel.

“He’s been sacrificing, training for a long time, he’s spent a lot of time in the gym, in training camp.

“I know what he’s going through.”

Lennox Lewis on Usyk vs Dubois 2

15:06 , Alex Pattle

Lennox Lewis, speaking to DAZN at the weigh-in, on what Dubois must do differently this time:

“He has to start first and finish last, basically go after him, like... command the ring.

“He’s a true heavyweight. Make sure he throws more punches than his opponent. His opponent’s gonna be running around, jumping about.

“He’s got to push him to the ropes.”

Dubois is dangerous and a familiar weakness could be Usyk’s undoing

13:56 , Alex Pattle

Daniel Dubois was a long way from finished at the end of his world title fight against Oleksandr Usyk in Poland two years ago.

Dubois had been dropped twice and stopped when he narrowly failed to beat the count in round nine. It was not a happy night for Dubois and in the midnight aftermath, harsh questions were asked about his desire to fight.

Dubois, it turns out, did want to fight, and he went on an impressive three-fight streak, winning all by stoppage and arguably starting all three as the underdog. It salvaged his reputation in a sport where lines are crossed too often by people pumping an agenda.

Steve Bunce previews this weekend’s main event:

Why was Usyk’s first fight with Dubois controversial? Low blow explained

13:37 , Alex Pattle

In their first fight, Dubois threw a body shot in round five that arguably landed low, with Usyk immediately wincing and hunching over.

The champion fell to the canvas, but the referee did not start a count, having ruled the punch as landing below the belt.

Usyk was given five minutes to recover, per the rules. Despite declaring himself ready to resume boxing, Usyk was urged by referee Luis Pabon to take more time.

Usyk ultimately used three minutes and 45 seconds of the five minutes allowed.

Usyk offers cryptic warning and Dubois reacts to huge Canelo bet

Thursday 17 July 2025 17:06 , Alex Pattle

Usyk vs Dubois 2 is a contest that Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, arguably the face of boxing, believes will go Usyk’s way again.

So confident is the undisputed super-middleweight champion, he has placed a $500,000 bet on the southpaw.

“It doesn’t mean nothing to me, it don’t mean s*** to me,” said Dubois. “He’s gonna lose his money.”

If Dubois has his way, Canelo will lose his money, and Usyk will lose his unified belts.

Charles and Usyk's manager in back and forth

Thursday 17 July 2025 14:14 , Alex Pattle

Charles dismisses criticism of Dubois from Usyk’s manager, Egis Klimas.

“We know what we’ve been witnessing,” says Charles. “He [Klimas] must’ve been sleeping for the last three fights.

“He must’ve been fast asleep. Can somebody wake him up?”

Klimas: “While I was sleeping, Oleksandr beat Tyson Fury two times.”

Usyk and Dubois on the age aspect

Thursday 17 July 2025 14:14 , Alex Pattle

Dubois is 27; Usyk is 38. Is Usyk old, in boxing terms?

Dubois: “It’s facts. I’m a young lion and I’ve just got to take over, be the man.”

Usyk: “I respect this guy, this young guy. He’s motivated, but I am, too. I’m not an old guy; 38 is not old.”

Dubois on his training

Thursday 17 July 2025 14:10 , Alex Pattle

“Right now, I just want to get it on. I’ve got to write my own script now. They’ve got a script, I’ve got to write my own.

“I’ve been getting a lot of... just confidence from my training, the shots I’ve been landing on the people I’ve been sparring. All of that’s just been building up, and I’m ready to let it out now.”

Dubois' trainer Don Charles speaks

Thursday 17 July 2025 14:10 , Alex Pattle

“If you really think about what this young man has experienced to be where he is today, the sacrifices he’s always made and is still making... he’s a prime example for any young person who wants to come into the industry.

“I’m a very spiritual man, in the sense that I believe in the universe.

“In my opinion, he’s been destined to be here today, and on Saturday to do what has almost been deemed impossible.

“I’ve normally got a lot to say,” he’s not wrong, “but I’m gonna keep it short.”

Warren on this match-up

Thursday 17 July 2025 14:05 , Alex Pattle

On Usyk: “He is different. He’s a fabulous and great champion, but this [Dubois] is the new kid on the block.

“He’s got the power, but everybody underestimates his boxing ability. He has one of the best jabs in boxing.

“We’ll see on Saturday night, the fans are gonna get something special.”

He says he knows that Usyk won’t box on the back foot, so he expects fireworks.

I tried Daniel Dubois’ sprint routine - and it’s not for the fainthearted

Thursday 17 July 2025 12:45 , Harry Bullmore

“I’ve worked with World Cup winners, and Daniel Dubois has the best physique I’ve ever seen,” his team doctor Ravi Gill tells me as we stand ringside, watching the would-be undisputed world champion train.

It is not just his hulking frame or knockout power that impresses Gill either – it is Dubois’ ability to work hard and recover fast, which is vital if he is to go 12 rounds with Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday.

His regular 20-round training sessions play a significant role in forging this fight-ready fitness, but there is another training method he uses to supercharge his heart and lungs: running.

Most mornings, the newly-signed Brooks Running athlete covers between 5km and 8km at a fairly easy pace, and three times per week his strength and conditioning coach takes him to an athletics track for taxing interval sessions. But one of Dubois’ regular fitness tests stands above all others – his Saturday hill sprints.

His trainer Don Charles runs me through the weekly workout, and the session could strike fear into even the most-seasoned athletes. But in the interests of entertainment and providing a point of comparison for Dubois’ pre-fight fitness, I resolved to give it a go.
