USMNT legend names five England players Gareth Southgate must use to win the World Cup

Former Tottenham and USA goalkeeper Brad Friedel has praised the attacking quality available to England manager Gareth Southgate with the World Cup in Qatar now just days away.

The Three Lions are heavily backed heading into the tournament in the Middle East, having performed well to reach the final of the Euros last year and the semi-finals of the last World Cup in Russia.

England begin their campaign against Iran on Monday before fixtures against the USA and Wales in Group B. Gareth Southgate has several options in attacking areas and Friedel believes England's 7/1 odds of winning the tournament represents good value.

''Good players can come to the forefront and perform very well on the draw at the drop of a hat,'' Friedel, who played 82 times for USMNT, told Bookmakers.com. "If you saw Liverpool and Tottenham two weekends ago, Liverpool were far better than Tottenham, then Tottenham came out and Tottenham were outstanding in the second half.

''You know, and this England team, if you look at no matter what 26 players they name on their given day; (Bukayo) Saka what a player, (Phil) Foden great player, (Jack) Grealish can open up teams, (Raheem) Sterling can open up teams, (Harry) Kane can score at any time against anybody, he's one of the best number nines on the globe. You know, so this team has the ability to do well. I think 7 to 1? That's not a bad punt."
