Universal Studios Japan operator USJ LLC announced that Super Nintendo World is finally set to open in spring 2021 after being delayed because of the coronavirus, on Wednesday.
The new area, which will feature the popular Nintendo character Mario, was originally scheduled to open by late July. Although most of the structures have been completed, USJ decided to postpone the opening until next spring in consideration of staff training.
USJ also announced that Mario Cafe & Store, where guests can buy Mario goods as well as other original items, will open on Oct. 16, ahead of the opening of Super Nintendo World.
The park is currently only allowing less than half of the usual number of visitors to prevent infection and will limit the number of guests who can enter the new area as well.
