BENGALURU: Soon, you can get BMTC’s daily, weekly and monthly passes on a mobile app.
The transport utility said it has tied up with city-based startup Tummoc to introduce bus passes through its app.
BMTC officials said passengers of all buses, including non-AC ones, can purchase passes through Tummoc app instead of going to TTMCs and bus stations to get them. BMTC’s official app will be ready in 2-3 months.
Tummoc will also provide around 1,400 advanced electronic ticketing machines (ETMs) on a rental basis that will mostly be deployed in AC buses.
At present, around 5,500 buses are operational but only 2,000 ETMs are in working condition. Paper tickets being issued manually is causing inconvenience to both conductors and passengers.
In 2019, BMTC along with another startup launched BMTC Namma Pass, a digital ticketing facility for Volvo Vajra services. There was good response from passengers, especially those travelling to ITPL and Electronics City, but it was later scrapped. tnn
