Dec. 31--USC offensive line coach Tim Drevno is leaving the Trojans' staff to become offensive coordinator at Michigan, a person with knowledge of the situation said Wednesday.
Drevno, 45, worked with new Michigan Coach Jim Harbaugh at the University of San Diego, Stanford and the San Francisco 49ers before he joined Steve Sarkisian's staff before last season.
At USC, Drevno oversaw a unit that included three freshmen -- Toa Lobendahn, Damien Mama and Viane Talamaivao -- who started games.
Zach Banner, who started at right tackle, wrote on his Twitter account: "I am happy for Coach Drev and wish him luck with his new job because he deserves it. He has a great opportunity. I love that guy."
Earlier this week, Sarkisian did not indicate that there would be a major shake-up among assistants.
"There's a lot of coaches around the country that would to love to coach at USC," he told reporters Sunday. "I have a firm belief in our coaching staff. I think these guys did a really good job this year, we're only going to get better heading into Year 2 within our systems and I'm hopeful that we have all of them back next year."
During preparation for the Holiday Bowl, when rumors were swirling that Harbaugh would become Michigan's coach, Drevno said, ""You don't find a better football coach than Jim Harbaugh. I learned a lot of ball from him."
