Oct. 07--USC's attempt to get Adoree' Jackson more touches on offense is expected to receive a boost from the possible return of cornerback Kevon Seymour.
Seymour, sidelined the last two games because of a knee injury, appears on track to play Thursday night against Washington. His return to the cornerback rotation would ostensibly enable Jackson to play fewer snaps on defense and more at receiver.
"Kevon's good to go," Coach Steve Sarkisian said after Tuesday's closed practice.
Jackson played only four plays on offense against Arizona State, but turned two passes into long gains, including one for an 80-yard touchdown. He played a season-high nine plays on offense against Stanford.
He has seven receptions and is averaging 27.6 yards per catch.
While Seymour is expected to play, junior receiver Darreus Rogers and defensive lineman Claude Pelon appear doubtful.
Rogers suffered a hamstring injury against Arizona State and did not participate in drills most of the week.
Pelon suffered what Sarkisian described as a high ankle sprain on Monday. He wore a protective boot and did not appear to have practiced Tuesday.
Turnover time
Sarkisian looked to Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor as a means of inspiring the Trojans' defense to continue its recent turnover surge.
USC capitalized on four turnovers in its 42-14 victory over Arizona State. Sarkisian had made turnovers the theme in his speech to the team the night before.
Sarkisian said that before Tuesday's practice he showed players a video that ended with footage of Chancellor stripping the ball from Detroit Lions receiver Calvin Johnson in the Seahawks' 13-10 victory Monday night.
"Just a classic example of punching the ball out and the play not ever being over," Sarkisian said. "So we're not going to back off that."
USC has intercepted three passes and recovered five fumbles.
