Usain Bolt has said he is hoping to break the 19 seconds barrier for 200m at next year’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, which he has admitted will definitely be his last. The six-times gold medallist is in Brazil to race in the Mano a Mano sprint event and believes he is on track to repeat his successes in Beijing and London.
“When I’m in great shape, I worry about nobody because I know that when I’m at my best – it’s definitely almost impossible to beat me,” he said.
“The 200m [mark] is definitely on the ‘to-do list’ for me, so I’m really focused on getting that done.
“This will be my last Olympics, but I am definitely looking forward to it. I’m excited now that it’s getting closer. I’m looking forward to being here and competing.
“That’s one of the reasons I’m so excited. It’s going to be a big goal for me, so I need to use this season to make sure I’m on track to get here next year. The season is going well so far so I am happy and excited.”
