Usain Bolt and Tom Grennan 'teaming up to make an album' after bonding at Soccer Aid

Olympic legend Usain Bolt has drafted in Tom Grennan to help him make his music dreams come true with the pair planning to release an album together.

While the 35-year-old Jamaican sprinter is known for his lightening speed on the track, he has grand plans to race up the charts now he’s retired from sport and is planning a music career.

And after he faced off against 27-year-old chart-topping star Tom in the recent Soccer Aid tournament in the UK, Usain hopes he can call on Little Bit of Love singer to boost his music credentials.

The lads grew close during training for the charity event which raised money and awareness towards UNICEF UK, and Tom had his guitar with him off the pitch for a sing-a-long with the celebrities taking part.

Speaking to The Sun, Usain explained that he hopes to release a credible album and says he is working with Tom to make it happen.

He declared: “We are still working on our rhyme right now. Next year we will do an album.

“We are still trying to get my name out there for music as people still don’t take it that seriously. Then I’ll try to put out another album.”

And Usain received a seal of approval from Tom, who said: “Usain is a producer. I am a singer. When he is doing his album I am flying to Jamaica 100 per cent.”

Before taking part in Soccer Aid, Tom had expressed concern that he’d gained too much weight while touring in the USA the month before.

He said: “Don’t get me wrong, I’ve put a bit of a tour belly on, but I’m out at the moment doing laps of the field and I played football last night, so I’m getting ready for it.

“I was eating rubbish in America. It’s just fries and Impossible Burgers.

“I’ll definitely be in a headspace where I’m there to play well. It’s on TV, for God’s sake. I’m not looking rubbish, no way.”

While on the day, Usain ruffled feathers when he found himself being tackled by football legend Jamie Carragher on the pitch.

The boys laughed off the incident, however, with Jamie taking to Twitter after their match to share a photo of him and Usain laughing on the pitch.

He captioned the tweet: “When @usainbolt tells you he’s not that quick anymore #SoccerAid” alongside eyes and air emojis.

The post attracted the attention of the man himself, who quote tweeted the photo and replied with a laugh, typing: “Haha.”

Usain has previously discussed his desire to be a pro footballer, before realising he’d missed his chance to be a professional player.

He told Wide World of Sports: “It's just one of those things you miss out on and just have to move on. I do think about it sometimes that it didn't work out the way that I wanted it to because football is something that I love. The fact that it didn't work out I do think about it, but as I said, it's one of those things you've got to move past.”
