USA World Cup squad confirmed: Christian Pulisic and Matt Turner named in USMNT roster

England’s Group B rivals USA have confirmed their World Cup squad. Attending a special event at Brooklyn Steel in New York City this evening, head coach Gregg Berhalter announced his 26-man roster.

The United States participated in every World Cup from 1990 to 2014 but failed to qualify in 2018 after losing to Trinidad and Tobago in the final qualifying round.

However, fast forward four years and Berhalter will travel to Qatar with a young team filled with exciting talent that could cause one or two problems.

Speaking ahead of the tournament which gets underway in just under two weeks, Berhalter spoke of his excitement but remained wary of the challenging tests that await him and his side.

“I think it will be special but the danger for us is that we get ahead of ourselves,” he said. “I mean we have Wales in the first game. Wales will be a tough game. Another team with international experience, major tournament experience and veterans in the team, a robust team.

“To me, I haven’t even started thinking about England yet because my thoughts are on Wales right now. We know how difficult Wales will be. They are a very good side with lots of experience and quality.”
