Overall a bit of a disappointing afternoon as the United States fail to extend their four-match winning streak. They’re now 7-0-2 all-time against Korea with 31 goals scored and three conceded. Today marks their only draw against the Taegeuk Ladies aside from another scoreless draw during their post-Olympics victory tour in 2008.
After today, the US players will have a few days to relax before heading to Canada and the start of the Women’s World Cup. The tournament kicks off on 6 June and the US opens group play against Australia on 8 June. Since dropping its opening match of the year with a 2-0 loss to France on 8 February, the United States have gone unbeaten and outscored their opponents by a 20-2 margin.
The US players can’t be happy with today’s result, but right now they’re milling along the sidelines waving, signing autographs, interacting with the fans.
Full-time: USA 0-0 Korea Republic
The United States is shut out on home soil for the first time since 2008. The opponent for that match was ... South Korea.
90+3: Hope Solo forced to make a diving save. Korea nearly won it at the death. Very nervy finish here. First thing she’s had to do today.
90+1 min: Heather O’Reilly’s free kick toward the far post challenges Jungmi, but it’s safely parried out.
90 min: US will have three minutes of stoppage time to make something happen here. They’ll have a free kick from about 30 yards for starters.
87 min: US starting to press and string some chances together but nothing critically dangerous as the Korean back four is standing tall. Korean midfielder dispossessed and US counters, the ball falling to Heath, whose well-struck left-footed shot is deflected off a defender.
86 min: US wins a corner and Korea makes its final sub: Park Ensun in for Kang Yumi. Another fruitless set piece for the Americans.
84 min: Kelley O’Hara on for Meghan Klingenberg, the United States’ final sub.
83 min: Lee Sodam on for Korea as Ji Soyun comes off. Ji really taking her time coming off, to groans from the crowd.
82 min: US probing a bit here, but still cannot make the final pass to lead to the breakthrough goal. Crowd really urging the side on now as the US win a corner.
77 min: Starting from the very back, a long ball ends at the foot of Rodriguez. Nearly a chance there as the Korean goalkeeper makes a bit of a mistake reading a cross, but she recovers. Still a goalless draw heading into the homestretch.
75 min: Heather O’Reilly enters for Leroux, the US team’s sixth substitution.
74 min: Some contact in front of the benches as Heath collides with Cho Sohyun, the Korean captain. She goes down in a heap and the crowd groans as El Salvadorian referee Mirian Leon gives Heath a talking-to but no booking.
72 min: The crowd swells as Leroux makes a dash up the left flank with the ball and floats a long, low cross onto an onrushing Amy Rodriguez who is running down the center of the field. But Hwang Boram disrupts it in the nick of time, lunging to deflect it out of bounds for a throw-in.
71 min: A bit of rudderless play here from the United States. Can they break through in the last 20 minutes?
69 min: Ball out of bounds, last touch by the US. Now Lee Geummin enters for Yoo Younga, Korea’s fourth substitution.
67 min: Capacity crowd of 26,467 for today’s match, a record for the US women’s team at Red Bull Arena and their third sellout this month.
Attendance for today's send-off game for #USWNT at Red Bull Arena: 26,467 Attendance for send-off game in 2011 at Red Bull Arena: 5,852

Updated
66 min: US making a fourth change as Lori Chalupny comes on for Ali Krieger in the back. Not much happening between the teams in between the substitutions.
64 min: Korea making its third change as Jeon Gaeul comes on for Jung Seolbin.
62 min: Leroux chases down a through ball, muscling past a Korean defender, takes possession, changes direction toward the goal and fires a well-struck shot directly on goal. Kim Jungmi is there to make the save.
60 min: Heath, Rampone and Rodriguez on for the United States as Holiday, Johnson and Wambach exit.
59 min: Holiday to Brian, but she’s immediately swallowed by three Korean defenders. US can’t seem to make the final pass here. A trio of US substitutions coming shortly.
57 min: The United States in the final third, Wambach carrying the ball. She passes laterally to Morgan Brian (who’s been MIA today), who passes to Krieger as the team rushes into attack, but nothing comes of it.
56 min: Carli Lloyd shown yellow for a foul, drawing thunderous boos from the partisan crowd.
53 min: Now it’s Korea doing some nice work here moving the ball up the field. A speculative shot on goal from 35 yards by Kim Hyeri curls down dangerously close to the crossbar, forcing Hope Solo to leap and deflect it over the goal. Corner kick, Korea.
50 min: Wambach running with the ball up the left flank and passes into space, but it’s disrupted by a pair of Korean defenders.
48 min: Two shots on goal for the US in a span of five seconds. First Sydney Leroux fires from 10 yards squarely in front of the goal, but it’s parried away by Korean keeper Kim Jungmi. Then it’s deflected back into the area, where Leroux is able to head it on goal, but it’s saved. Americans knocking on the door here.
46 min: And we’re back underway. No personnel changes for the US team at the half, while Hwang Boram has replaced Kwon Hahnul for Korea.
Halftime stats
USA / KOR
8 Shots 3
1 Shots on Goal 0
0 Saves 1
1 Corners 0
6 Fouls 0
1 Offside 0
Half-time: USA 0-0 Korea Republic
And that’s it for the first half, scoreless through 45 minutes. Will be interesting to see what buttons Jill Ellis pushes at halftime in an attempt to crack the code.
45 min: Fourth official indicates there will be one minute of stoppage time.
44 min: Carli Lloyd whistled for a foul for pulling a Korean player to the ground while jockeying for space along the right sideline. Korean team growing more emboldened here.
42 min: Carli Lloyd whistled for a foul for pulling a Korean player to the ground while jockeying for space along the right sideline.
40 min: Lloyd mades a run with the ball 15 yards up the gut of the midfield and pushes a through ball forward to Leroux. It seems as if defender Kim Doyeon will easily clear it, but Leroux makes up ground and manages to get a foot on the ball for an attempt on goal. Just misses wide left. A mistake there by Kim Doyeon, who didn’t look up.
38 min: Pace has really dropped off here. No chances for either side as the sides trade possession in the midfield.
36 min: Nearest miss of the match for the US as outside back Meghan Klingenberg’s effort just misses Abby Wambach’s head at the mouth of the goal. A few inches lower and it would have been an easy goal. American Outlaws now chanting Ab-by Wam-bach!
31 min: After a half-hour it’s clear US is having trouble keeping the ball, no doubt missing Megan Rapinoe, who is a “precautionary” scratch along with Alex Morgan today.
28 min: Another long pass from Krieger to Leroux has a little too much weight on it and is corralled easily by the Korean keeper.
26 min: Carli Lloyd covering a lot of space. Darts up the left side of the area and drops a pass back into the middle to an onrushing Sydney Leroux, whose shots misses the target. Slightly better here from the Americans.
23 min: Nice interplay there from Johnson to Holiday to Lloyd but the sequence is broken up by a Korean player. Seconds later the ball falls to Lloyd in space. She takes two dribbles and uncoils a powerful right-footed shot from 20 yards that misses wide right.
19 min: USA will have their first corner of the match as a long ball goes out of bounds off a Korean player. Lauren Holiday to take it and it caroms off a Korean player’s head to Abby Wambach, whose shot is deflected along with the secondary effort.
17 min: Jung Seolbin enters for Park Heeyoung, Korea’s first substitution.
15 min: A Korean player is down in front of the USA bench and it looks like it’s Park Heeyoung. A stretcher comes out but she walks off gingerly with the assistance of a team physio. Looks like a shoulder.
13 min: Julie Johnson mishits a through pass to Ali Krieger along the sideline to give possession to Korea, but it’s quickly won back. Wambach with a cross the misses the mark but it goes off a Korean player out of the bounds. Lloyd turns to shoot but it’s deflected. USA looking a bit disjointed here.
10 min: I’m told Korea had 58% possession in the first six minutes – the period USA coach Jill Ellis said she wanted the Americans to simulate as if it were the last six minutes of the World Cup – though it doesn’t seem like that. US marginally more incisive early, but in truth not much has happened so far.
9 min: Ball still down in Korea’s third. A throw-in ends up at the foot of Carli Lloyd, who turns and takes a speculative shot 30 yards from goal. It sails harmlessly above the post.
8 min: Another long ball to Leroux as the crowd swells, but it’s struck a little too hard and Korean keeper Kim Jungmi runs from her box to clear it.
6 min: Yoo Younga dispossessed by Morgan Brian in midfield and the Korean forward is down holding her ankle as play goes on. Now a long clearance by Ali Krieger that falls 40 yards downfield to Sydney Leroux, who traps it with one touch and runs toward midfield as the crowd roars. But the defenders close in and the ball goes harmlessly past the line for a goal kick.
3 min: USA has been probing Korea’s final third but unable to direct a shot on goal. After a player is dispossessed, it’s Korea’s Ji Soyun who makes a run with the ball into the USA’s half. A foul gives her a free kick that’s headed into the box but cleared.
1 min: And we’re underway at Red Bull Arena! USA going left to right in their all-white kits, Korea in red shirts and blue shorts.
A great tifo here at Red Bull Arena
Not much longer now.
