USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie rankings, Sept. 3: Weili Zhang makes major moves

We have a new queen in the UFC strawweight division, and she’s made some big moves in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie rankings.

In just her fourth UFC bout, Weili Zhang became the 115-pound champion after a dominant TKO win over Jessica Andrade in just 42 seconds this past Saturday at UFC on ESPN+ 15 in Shenzhen, China. The performance was as stunning as it was impressive, with Zhang essentially beating Andrade at her own game, choosing to stand and trade with the Brazilian in an action-packed short fight.

With the victory, Zhang became the first Chinese champion in UFC history. And in our latest rankings, she’s shot up the charts at both strawweight and women’s pound-for-pound.

First, she climbs seven spots to No. 1 at 115 pounds. And at pound-for-pound, Zhang goes from unranked all the way to No. 4. Andrade, meanwhile, slips to No. 2 and No. 5 in both rankings, respectively.
