Colby Covington sure made a lot of noise on Saturday at UFC on ESPN 5. From his dominant win in the cage to his usual array of controversial statements, the former interim welterweight champ stayed right on track for, well, whatever exactly it is he’s looking to achieve.
But where does that place him in the welterweight division? It seems likely to land him a shot at Kamaru Usman’s belt. But we just can’t put him in the No. 1 contender’s spot yet. Not when Tyron Woodley’s loss to Usman remains his only loss in quite some time.
So it stays Usman 1, T-Wood 2, and Covington 3.
Meanwhile, there was plenty else going on in MMA, including victories over in Asia for No. 5 pound-for-pound Demetrious Johnson and Eddie Alvarez, and a bunch of fights on UFC on ESPN 5 which had real implications in their respective divisions.
So to find out where you favorite, or least favorite, fighters landed after last weekend, go ahead and take a look at the lists above.
