USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie rankings, Aug. 13: Vicente Luque leapfrogs a legend

UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko and welterweight Vicente Luque were the biggest winners from UFC on ESPN+ 14 this past weekend in Uruguay, but where did it get them in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie rankings?

For Shevchenko, she stays put at both women’s flyweight and women’s pound-for-pound – meaning No. 1 and No. 2, respectively – after defending her title against Liz Carmouche with a clean-sweep unanimous decision.

As for Luque, he’s now won six straight and 10 of 11 following a hard-fought split decision over a gutsy Mike Perry. As a result, Luque is rewarded in the latest 170-pound rankings by cracking the top 15 and leapfrogging former champion Robbie Lawler.

You can check out our full rankings above, including more fallout from UFC on ESPN+ 14.
