Between UFC on ESPN 2, Bellator 219 and ONE Championship 92, this past weekend proved to be eventful and had a big impact on the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie MMA rankings.
Justin Gaethje, Edson Barboza, Michelle Waterson, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, and Eddie Alvarez all were directly impacted by their performances.
Gaethje makes a significant jump in the lightweight rankings after knocking out Barboza, who takes a tumble. Waterson ditches honorable mention for a number next to her name at strawweight after scoring the first win of her career over a top-10 fighter in Kowalkiewicz. And Alvarez, as you’d expect, falls mightily in the 155-pound rankings following his stunning first-round TKO loss in his ONE Championship debut.
