USA TODAY projects Seahawks to finish behind 49ers in NFC West

USA TODAY NFL writer Nate Davis has released his projections for the 2019 regular season – one year after predicting the Seattle Seahawks to finish a dismal 6-10.

Davis likes the Seahawks’ chances more this season projecting a 9-7 record, although that is only good enough for third place in the NFC West.

He has the Rams also going 9-7 however, with the division crown going to the 49ers at 10-6.

The 49ers went just 4-12 in 2018, finishing third in the division ahead of the Cardinals. However, San Francisco battled a myriad of injuries, including losing quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and running back Jerick McKinnon.

Assuming both players are healthy, the 49ers should be better than they were in 2018.

It’s certainly bold to have them better than both the Rams and the Seahawks, especially after both teams are coming off double-digit wins – with the Rams appearing in the Super Bowl.

The Seahawks are coming off a 10-6 season and a playoff berth, although they did lose Doug Baldwin, Frank Clark and Earl Thomas – three integral pieces to their team from a year ago.

With training camp set to begin on July 25, fans will get their first look at the new Seahawks team in action.

They’ll look to once again prove Davis and the USA TODAY team wrong in a quest for the eighth playoff appearance in the Pete Carroll era.
