USA TODAY NFL Power Rankings: Jets no longer AFC East bottom dwellers

The Jets won’t be the worst team in the AFC East for their rematch with the Patriots.

New York is no longer at the bottom of its division in USA TODAY’s latest NFL Power Rankings, moving up from 29th to 27th during its bye week. The Dolphins now claim the title of AFC East bottom dweller, as they tumbled from 27th to 29th after a last-second loss to the Jaguars in London.

It won’t be easy for the Jets to maintain their standing as the second-to-worst team in a bad division. Gang Green has not won in New England since the 2010 playoffs and has not beaten the Patriots since 2015. Bill Belichick’s team got the best of New York in Week 2, forcing Zach Wilson to throw four interceptions in an easy 25-6 win.

The Patriots enter Week 7 fresh off a gut-wrenching loss to the Cowboys and check in 23rd in the power rankings, making them the lone riser in the division after being slotted at No. 26 last week. The Bills sit at No. 8 following their own narrow defeat against the Titans on Monday night.

Rounding out the top five are the Cardinals, Rams, Buccaneers, Cowboys and Ravens. Baltimore is the lone newcomer to the upper echelon of the rankings after thoroughly defeating the red hot Chargers at home.
