USA Today NFL Power Rankings: Bears start season at No. 7

We’re just a couple days away from the start of the 2019 NFL season, and regular-season power rankings are beginning to trickle out.

USA Today released its first regular-season power rankings ahead of Thursday’s NFL Kickoff, and it’s no surprise that the Chicago Bears landed in the top 10.

7. Bears: Defense drives bus here, but offense kept under wraps in preseason must close gap if Chicago hopes to recapture Super Bowl glory.

The Bears are coming off a 12-4 season, which included an NFC North title. Despite a change at defensive coordinator, Chicago is anticipated to be a team in title contention.

But it’s not the defense that’s in question, it’s the offense. The biggest question surrounding the 2019 Bears is the play of third-year quarterback Mitch Trubisky, who enters his second season in Matt Nagy’s offense.

With the plethora of offensive weapons at his disposal, as well as the experience in this system, Trubisky is expected to take the next step in his development in 2019.
