President Trump said : "If you don't have to travel ... I wouldn't do it."

He also said a ban on flights to the US from the UK and Ireland will be announced amid the coronavirus pandemic.

He said: "We are looking at it very seriously because they've had a little bit of activity unfortunately.

"We actually already have looked at it and that is going to be announced."

Mike Pence then announced the travel ban from UK and Ireland will be effective Monday night at midnight.

VP Pence says Americans “can come home and will be funneled through specific airports and processed.”

The President is also looking at more travel restrictions domestically in between the states.

The US has already banned flights from the 26 countries of Europe's Schengen area for 30 days, although the travel ban excluded the UK and Ireland and US citizens.
