The US men’s basketball team suffered a stunning loss Saturday as it became the first team made up of all NBA players to lose a game in 13 years.
Australia, which was led by Patty Mills’ 30 points, handed Team USA a 98-94 loss in an exhibition in Melbourne. It’s the first loss for Team USA in 78 games.
With the World Cup starting in a week, this loss isn’t ideal and makes Team USA not look like a sure lock to win gold, which is what we’re used to seeing.
USA basketball didn’t seem to handle the loss well, either, as they disabled comments to their Instagram photo of the loss, which didn’t go over well with fans:
