US women's football team players sue over gender discrimination

Just three months before the US women's football team goes off to defend its title at the FIFA Women's World Cup, all its players have filed a federal gender discrimination lawsuit seeking pay equal to that of their male counterparts.

The class-action lawsuit was filed on Friday in a federal court under the Equal Pay Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. It alleges gender-based discrimination by the US Soccer Federation (USSF).

Al Jazeera's Gabriel Elizondo reports from New York.
