The buzz sweeping the US media is that Aaron Sorkin's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip is about to be axed, despite landing an order for three extra scripts at the end of last week.
If it is Sayonara to Studio 60, LA gossip blog Defamer won't be shedding too many tears.
But wait... NBC is standing by the show, for now at least, according to Media Daily News.
Tuesday's (October 31) Los Angeles Times also quotes NBC entertainment president Kevin Reilly, saying Studio 60 is one of a number of new shows he's 'pulling for' and believes can 'really grow into bigger commercial assets'.
Brilliant But Cancelled's Deathwatch - Fall '06 has Studio 60 at 16/1 for the chop - but doesn't quite know what to make of the latest rumours.
Fox News' Roger Friedman first ran the story on Sunday that Studio 60 was 'about to be put out of its misery' by NBC.
Friedman said cast members are already 'confiding in friends that the end is near'.
If this is the end for the show, it comes as little surprise - Studio 60 has drawn a mixed reaction from US critics, and has seen its audience slump from 13.4m to 7.7m over six episodes.
This is barely half the audience of preceding NBC Monday night drama, Heroes - one of the few out and out hits of the new US TV season.
Heroes has already been commissioned for a full series run by NBC and picked up in something of an acquisition coup by UK broadcaster Sci Fi Channel, after being overlooked by other British networks.
