The US Mission to the UN spokesperson, Nate Evans, stated that the resolution aims to support diplomatic efforts for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza as part of a hostage deal. This initiative is intended to facilitate the release of hostages and increase the flow of humanitarian aid to the region.
Evans mentioned that the United States has been actively engaging with Council members in recent weeks to draft a resolution that will garner unequivocal support. Following extensive consultations with the Security Council, the US is now ready to present the resolution for a vote on Friday morning.
