US soap star dies suddenly, aged 57 after heart attack

  • Actor Patrick Muldoon, known for his roles in the soap Days of Our Lives and the film Starship Troopers, has died at the age of 57.
  • Muldoon passed away suddenly on Sunday, 19 April, following a heart attack.
  • He gained prominence playing Austin Reed in the NBC soap Days of Our Lives from 1992 to 1995, and later returned briefly in 2011.
  • Muldoon also had a notable villainous role as Richard Hart in the Fox series Melrose Place and starred in Paul Verhoeven’s sci-fi film Starship Troopers.
  • Beyond acting, Muldoon was a musician, fronting the band The Sleeping Masses, and worked as an executive producer on several films.
