The US has revealed it is sending 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine in a major blow for Russian president Vladimir Putin.
Joe Biden announced the US will equip Ukraine with M1A1 Abrams tanks as it prepare's for a fresh Russian attack.
The US has committed more than $26 billion to Kyiv’s fight since Russia invaded nearly a year ago.
Mr Biden told reporters the tanks will “enhance Ukraine’s capacity to defend its territory and achieve its strategic objectives."
He said: “Delivering these tanks to the field is going to take time. Time that we’ll see and we’ll use to make sure the Ukrainians are fully prepared.
"That’s what this is about: helping Ukraine defend and protect Ukrainian land. It is not an offensive threat to Russia.”

The US will also provide a further eight recovery vehicles which support the tanks along with 500 armoured vehicles to help Ukraine's military.
However, a senior Biden official said it will take "some time" for the tanks to be delivered to Ukraine.
They said: "We are talking months as opposed to weeks.”
Pentagon press secretary U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder told reporters the tanks are "very capable."
The Pentagon has been asked to provide training and logistical support for the M1A1 tanks.
The training to use the tanks will take several months and will happen outside of Ukraine, according the White House.
Mr Ryder said: "The M1 is a very capable battlefield platform and it’s also a very complex capability.
"And so, like anything that we’re providing to Ukraine, we want to ensure that they have the ability to maintain it, sustain it, to train on it.”

Mr Biden said the aid being used to help Ukraine defend its land shows that it's "no offensive threat to Russia."
He said: "There is no offensive threat to Russia. If the troops return to Russia this war would be over today."
The president added he will "not allow a country to steal a neighbour's territory by force".
Biden said it is a "worldwide commitment" to help Ukraine as he thanked countries for their significant support.
He held a phone call with leaders of the UK, France, Germany and Italy this morning where he revealed "we are thoroughly united."
Biden told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky: "We are with you for as long as it takes."
The president said the decision to send the tanks is "further evidence of our enduring and unflagging commitment to Ukraine."
He added: "Through every single step of this horrific war the American people have been strong in their support.
"We are united, America's united, and so is the world."
