US secretary of state: Pompeo to face Senate confirmation hearing

US President Donald Trump's choice for the next secretary of state will begin his confirmation hearing later on Thursday.

Mike Pompeo is currently the director of the CIA.

President Trump selected him to replace Rex Tillerson, who was fired last month.
