Donald Trump has said US and Nigerian forces have killed the Islamic State’s second-in-command in a joint operation.
US Africa Command released footage of the lethal strike on Saturday, May 16.
The US president said the mission targeted Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, whom he described as “the most active terrorist in the world”, in a statement posted on Truth Social on Friday.
“Tonight, at my direction, brave American forces and the Armed Forces of Nigeria flawlessly executed a meticulously planned and very complex mission to eliminate the most active terrorist in the world from the battlefield,” Trump wrote.
